There is no difference... we need to break down these walls which divide us, man!
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Only a few types of dark chocolate are unsweetened. Cocoa power doesn’t usually contain sweeteners, and unsweetened and semi-sweet dark chocolates are usually true to their names.

There is of course that white chocolate isn't really chocolate at all, but lets not go into that.

It's so simple. If you even ask to small child then also she or he tell what is the difference between dark & white chocolate.
So, please go and search on net no need to ask to anybody.

That's not very helpful! Dear me. Poor hima! I'll tell you the difference hima sweetheart. Dark chocolate is white in colour and white chocolate is dark in colour. Simples.
Old but spicey!

Ooh, can we have the 'white chocolate isn't chocolate' argument now?

Could we have a debate instead of an argument? lol

If white chocolate isn't chocolate what is it? There is that a good start? :D

OK, I'm game, although this is a tricky one...

a) If you feel that 'proper' chocolate should have cocoa solids in it, i.e. cocoa beans, then white chocolate cannot be chocolate because it only contains cocoa butter.

b) If you feel that anything made using a cocoa pod is chocolate, then white chocolate is, indeed, chocolate.

So, it really depends where you stand. Personally, I get a bit confused! One minute I think a) is right, but then I think that b) has also got some promise.

What do you think? Oh, and you're right, Rainbow, this should be a debate, not an argument  :)

Well, I'm firmly on the side of a)

Chocolate has solids in it. White 'chocolate' is sugary confectionery!

The Oxford English Dictionary definition of chocolate is "a food in the form of a paste or solid block made from roasted and ground cacao seeds, typically sweetened and eaten as confectionary." Which isn't really much help is it?
So I am thinking that whether or not you believe white chocolate to be 'real' chocolate is a personal choice and something that people will probably debate forever.

I am not very keen on white chocolate by itself. I wouldn't just buy and eat a bar of it, but mixed with other things, ie put into buns or cookies, or even coating something yummy like strawberries or raspberries it is lovely.

Is it chocolate? I have no clue. lol
