A new quiz - with a difference
« on: March 29, 2005, 04:21:23 pm »

As you know I like my quizzes, but I think the 'guess the name of the bar' ones have been a bit too easy. So now it's time to see just how far your confectionery knowledge goes:

1)      Cadbury used the song ‘Wonderful Life’ by Black in the advertising campaign for which product?

2)      What in 1995 was the first Cadbury bar to be launched nationwide for 25 years, rather than being trailed regionally?

3)      In what year did Mars replace the slogan ‘a Mars a day helps you work, rest and play’ with ‘Now there’s more to Mars?’ Was it 1990, 1992 or 1995?

4)      Which TV presenter/writer was the face of the ‘Now there’s more to Mars?’ campaign?

5)      Which of these products is the odd one out and why? After Eight, Kit Kat, Nestle Crunch?

6)      In what year was Fry’s Five Centres discontinued?

7)      What is the oldest chocolate bar still in production?

8)      Which TV presenting duo launched Wispa Bite?

9)      What unusual occasion did Cadbury use to launch the Snow Flake?

10)  Which of these products is the odd one out and why?  Crunchie, Turkish Delight, Jelly Tots?

5. That wasn't the answer I was looking for, but thinking about it, it's true! Any guesses for the answer I was thinking of?

6. Wrong - sorry...

7. Correct! First launched in 1866 and still going strong!

P.S. I obviously had a dyslexic moment - the bar in question 2 was the first in 25 years not to be TRIALLED regionally (not trailed as I've put!)

Thanks!

For 2) I'll try Fuse (but maybe that was '96)

For 8) I'll try Smith and Jones (they did the old Wispa commericals so I thought they were worth a try )

For 9) Was it for Anthea Turner's wedding?

Two is correct! Nine is too (apparently Lorraine Kelly scoffed eight of them, the greedy bint!)

Sadly poor old Smith and Jones had been dumped on the scrapheap by the time Wispa Bite arrived - think younger...

Suddenly remembered I never got a full set of complete answers for this. Still waiting for the answers to 3, 4, 5 and 10 (although Bounty's answer to 5 was correct - it just wasn't the answer I was thinking of.) You have 24 hours to grab glory before I reveal the answers!

8 was Ant and Dec, as correctly guessed by Bounty.

Okay, here are the missing answers:

3. 1992.

4. Danny Baker.

5. Nestle Crunch is the odd one out. White and orange variations of After Eight and Kit Kat have been produced - only a white variation of Crunch has been produced.

10. Crunchie is the odd one out. The other two still bear the names of defunct companies - Rowntree's Jelly Tots and Fry's Turkish Delight - while Crunchie, originally a Fry's product, is now Cadbury Crunchie.
