Comic Relief
« on: March 20, 2011, 10:17:56 am »
anyone watch this on friday? i'm sure i said the same thing last time but i thought the whole point of the tv programming was based around comedy. this year (as last time) it just seemed to be a bunch of weak celebrity hosts presenting segment after segment. gone are the days where they actually tried to be funny. i mean davina macool... really? fearne cotton? what's the deal here?

did anyone here actually donate anything? for the first time ever, i believe, i actually text through a tenner. i believe this has bought a couple of mosquito nets. yay for me!

think it was more a case of throwing celebrities in front of the camera rather than being funny. Thought the Smithy bit was the best but only because of the variety of guests, it wasn't really that funny.

it was nice to see the old youtube fave Axis Of Awesome make an appearance. unfortunately, they came on at about 2am and played infront of a half-dead crowd who just didn't 'get it', which sort of ruined their performance somewhat. for those of you who missed it and/or have no idea what i'm on about, here's their original youtube clip. (i'm not putting the comic relief performance on here for the aforementioned reasons.)

I saw this one sketch and didn't get it at all. It was all about this boy being beaten by his stepdad and locked in a cupboard. I didn't so much as giggle.

I am a total grump - therefore I never watch any marathon TV fundraising fiascos such as Children in Need or Comic Relief. I think it's a very good idea for people who like that sort of thing and it's a wonderful way to raise money - but I am afraid it just makes me cringe. However - I work in a building full of young people who enjoy doing strange things like wearing their bedclothes to college (and encouraging a good few lecturers to do the same) so I have many opportunities to throw a few quid in the buckets and turn my back on all the hilarity.

Told you I was a grump.
Old but spicey!
