if you rummage though some old threads about the smoking ban you'll see... i think that's how it all started.

Now that was a classic thread!  It's interesting to see that we're now in 2010, no-one appears to be batting an eyelid about no smoking in pubs or clubs and we're not yet part of a totalitarian police state.  Not to say the latter won't happen one day!  Especially under the ConDemNation!!!

I remember how that smoking thread evolved. It was rather shocking how it turned into a homophobic/racist rant by what were basically a bunch of chavs.

They had this website covered in pics of themselves that looked like a pound shop version of those terrible 'professional' shoots couples sometimes have done. Babygirl clearly thought she was hot stuff -then one of the members here described them as Shrek and Fiona in human form.

What I found interesting about the smoking ban was that it created so much fuss that the government were then able to sneak raising the minimum age from 16 to 18 under the radar. Hardly anyone batted an eyelid at what was quite a significant change.

my fave part of the whole lemon-baby scandal was when one of their 13 year old chav friends called 'kylie' started threatening to beat up forum members. oh, how i miss those days. (and i wonder what's on their website these days?)

just been reading through the old smoking ban thread for old times sake... DAMN! i was more than a little aggressive in those days getting my point across! i think it was the fact that i'd only just got an internet connection that i used all those capital letters and acted so passionately about a topic a don't really give a damn about. i used to be a bit of a 'troll' back in the day. (it's always embarrassing when you share an opinion with people who are complete pr*cks, so just for that reason i should have distanced myself from them.)

just like to say i never properly read thread histories in those days either, so i completely missed all the nastiness directed towards smurfy (and others, but mainly the blue guy.) that was completely out of order in every way. when it comes to this sort of thing, i will usually force myself to change my opinion just not to side with the p*icks.

anyway, what was my point? NO SMOKING BAN! NO MORE 1984!

Maybe they should have lowered it to 14, or even 12!  Personally, I think 18 is a good age to think about smoking.  Even so, the kids don't give a toss.  They'll always find a way around it, just as they do drink and drugs.  Oh, and sex!
