'Lost'
« on: May 05, 2010, 06:24:14 pm »
as the series approaches is finale, i was just wondering if anyone else here is (still) addicted to it like myself? (or if anyone once was, but the novelty has long since worn off.) i really don't watch a lot of tv these days... but i truly think this is the best show to come out of america since 'Twin Peaks'.

the novelty has worn off a bit, but I'm still eager to see how it's wrapped up. Alias had a pretty good ending (although there were a few loose ends never explained it didn't feel like you were denied a 'proper' ending - unlike so many shows).

It's American, so it ain't gonna be quirky.  I can't say I watched any of Lost.  I just wasn't sure about it.

Now Life On Mars/Ashes To Ashes...

Quite disappointed with the ending. Fair enough it was tricky to tie things up but they left so many loose ends. Clear that for the most part the series was made up as they went along.
Anyone else watch it?

i did and it annoyed me greatly. i was hoping for what the producers promised us - answers to it all. instead we get nothing of the sort.

what did the numbers mean?
why couldn't babies be born on the island?
how did jacob get off the island and visit people?
what was that wheel which made the island 'move'?
what was the deal with the time travel?
what was the light in that cave?
how could the island heal people?
what exactly was the black smoke monster all about?
what was the deal with that egyption statue?

grr! too many questions and NONE of them were answered! i will say this, however - AT LEAST IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ALIENS!

Didn't you realise they were all already dead and in purgatory?

Nah it was the island that was real and the other stuff was 'limbo' for want of a better word. Hence the line about some characters dying long after Jack.
I agree with wjp, you could say well there was this electromagnetic thing and that could heal/stop babies being born etc. (with a rather scifi hat on at least) - but numbers, dharma projects, loads of other things which make a lot of the series feel pointless.

polar bears have a strong resilience to electromagnetic fields, mebbe, perhaps... I dunno, mebbe the writer got drunk before the first draft

They were making it up as they went along.  It was almost an art experiment!
