CDM Bars of Plenty
« on: February 15, 2010, 06:07:12 pm »
This has taken me completely by surprise - I'd heard nothing of them until I saw an ad in Tesco (at which time I was so tired I forgot to look if they actually had them - doh!)

There are three varieties - Berry Fruits and Vanilla Shortcake, Toffee Apple and Caramel and Cashew. I'm quite surprised to see Cadbury trying more fruit-based bars considering the Cranberry with Granola and Apricot Crumble bars don't seem to be leaping off the shelves, but good on them! Our old friend Jim has reviews on Chocolate Mission:

Update - I was wrong about there being a Caramel and Cashew flavour; it's actually Roasted Hazelnut and Honey Coated Cashew. I picked up a bar in Tesco last night (no sign of the other flavours); will report back when I've tried it.

Still no sign of these near me. I've been told a shop on the other side of the river has them but I need more reason to risk my life with the trolls under the bridges :P

Fortunately my local sainsburys had them the other day (nowhere near the normal chocolate area though which is really annoying - I could've missed them!). So I won't be sending goats across the bridge as a sacrifice so that I may be spared :P

All on special at Tesco - £1 a bar instead of £1.63. So far Vanilla Berry Shortcake is my favourite flavour. GC - The apple in the Toffee Apple bar is spiced, so I wouldn't recommend for you given your feelings on cinnamon!

Why would they add cinnamon when everyone knows toffee apples have no such flavour :-/

Because some companies seem to have an irrestible urge to add cinnamon to anything that might contain apple.
Tried the 'Berry Fruit and Vanilla Shortcake' today - very nice, especially for a quid (Sainsburys).

I went back to the Caburys shop yesterday.  I tried the Berry Fruits and Vanilla Shortcake.

I have to say I WAS disappointed especial paying £1.50, for what could be to many is a bland and very boring bar.   It reminded me of the old Caburys Biscuit bar, with some over rated small bit of fruit.

Shame......

I saw them at Co-op yesterday for £1 each. Bought the nutty one but haven't gotten around to eating it yet (still halfway through a bag of Galaxy Counters.)

The Toffee Apple one is on special in Sainsbury at £1. Wasn't going to bother but relented and have just tried it. Not bad at all. Better than I expected.
Old but spicey!
