Greetings from Cornwall
« on: July 22, 2009, 10:48:49 am »
I am enjoying a fabulous holiday down here in beautiful Cornwall. We set out last Friday, spent a day and night in Arundle, two nights and Dorchester (we went to the Tolpuddle Festival - the best ever this year - absolutely uplifting) and on Monday we arrvied in Newquay. Yesterday we went to visit my cousin in Hayle and today we are slobbing around in Newquay. The beaches are breathtakingly beautiful. We ahve been down before but not for over twenty years. I am loving it so much. At the mo we are in an internet cafe overlooking the seafront and there are surfers everywhere you look.

Back home on Friday.

Hope everyone is well.

My dad's from Marazion!  I used to be able to see St Michael's Mount from the bedroom window when I stayed there.

Yes you should have called and seen me on the way through Oldspice!  Glad you're having fun - there are surfers all over the place where I live too.

I've had a lovely holiday but I am back in flat old Peterborough now with a mountain of washing and a week's worth of cleaning and shopping to do!

I'd forgotten how beautiful Cornwall is and we are already planning a trip back next Easter.

Dorchester was also lovely. So was Arundle. Arundle will definitley be on the cards for another visit as we didn't get much time to look around properly. It appeared to be a very English type of town with a farmers' market, traditional shops and a massive castle. One thing I  also really enjoyed about being in the west country weas hearing regional accents once again.

I saw that TV show on Wellworths - while I'd like to think they'll succeed, I can't help thinking that if a national chain with potentially huge buying power can't make that kind of store work, what chance does an independent have?
