Eurovision
« on: May 17, 2009, 12:42:22 am »
i know i said on shoutbox i wouldn't watch... but i did anyway. i  seriously missed terry wogan this year as i expected i would, though graham norton didn't do a terrible job. (though it seemed like he was reading from a script most of the time, rather than terry's seemingly mainly improvised routine.)

did anyone else watch? who did you want to win? i really liked Azerbaijan, Iceland and Turkey. wasn't overly keen on Norway's winner, or our bland entry. (and Finland were hilarious.)

well, that's 3 and a 1/4 hours of my life i'm not getting back.

I knew Norway would win (never underestimate the power of a cute boy with a violin) but not by such a landslide. I got Denmark in thesweepstake at work. Bah.
Who needs karma when you know you're great already?

I arrived home from a lovely meal out with my husband in time to see the Norway entry and I thought it was a decent song so I was pleased to see it win. I didn't see all of the rest of the contest as we turned over for Match of the Day at 10pm but I did see the UK entry and thought it was Okish. I saw on the news we came 5th and that was about right I think. At least this year the voting wasn't such a farce and it actually, to some extent, reflected the quality of the entries.
Old but spicey!

Haven't watched the Euro in something like 20 years. Gran & Mum would sit throught it from start to finish whilst blockbuster actionpacked offerings were on the other channels. So we missed out as children on lots of quality entertainment that left my sister and I missing out on programmes and that opened the doors to ridicule by our friends.

Somethings you can forgive your paternts and elders for, the Euro's are not in that class...

And how you must have enjoyed watching Man Utd win the league again! ;)

Norway's offering was pants!  The guy couldn't even sing properly!  I don't think any of the tunes were that good at all, and even an appearance from Dita Von Tease couldn't liven up proceedings.

Where was all the rock?

Where was all the rock?
I was trying to explain an oxymoron to my nine year old son today.
Thanks!
