Facebook Interface (beta)
« on: April 20, 2009, 10:26:22 pm »
Hi all,
I've created a facebook interface for the chocolate review. It's quite basic at present (simple voting, no details, no search yet, accounts not linked between FB and chocolate review).
Those of you with a facebook account I urge you to give it a go and let me know your thoughts/ideas on here.
Thanks.

Link (although it should be visible via Facebook search):

Hmmmm. Privacy concerns.

Remember that this is a commercial site that wants to exploit your data for its financial gain...

If you can, keep me off it plz.

:) no worries only an alternative interface to allow facebookers to log votes. Won't be exposing data from choc review users out to facebook.
May well bring more visitors to the site too - always nice to see new posters :)

it'd be nice to see a new poster who isn't trying to promote something.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Yes I do but I never use it.

You have to have an account if you want to view results churned up in a search engine that points to a link or information that appears on FB.

I hate the policy that they have as well, you have to have an account with FB in order to see anything, if you don't and you follow a link from a search engine to a FB link, your presented with a page that requests you log in or sign up.

That is why they have 200 million people signed up to the site, not because theyre a success. The only reason that they have that many people in the first place is because of the policy that they run on access.

Theirs plenty of other SNS that do not block public viewing in that way, many people forget that your forced in to signing up to see anyones profile or access information like links from peoples fave sites and so on. (See attached, access facebook when not logged in by cached cookies, servers cookies or other server tracking methods, you get this page)

Basically, if you want to hear a load of bollox being talked about, you don't need to go on-line to face book, you just need to go for a drink at your local pub and wait for the effects of alcohol to kick in.

I do, it is more a case of people need to wake up to the facts about things. Facebook is bad news, just like google.

Privacy is more than just a case of CCTV and who is watching you. Arguments like if you have "nothing to hide" just do not wash with me and its just those types of arguments that allow private companys like google, facebook, twitter, bebo & microsoft (etc) & governments to walk all over your basic human right to privacy.

So... what happens when Google becomes "Self Aware" what then?
