The Britain's Got Talent finalist lost her temper in the lobby of the Wembley Plaza Hotel in North London after being "wound up" by journalists.
Police stationed at the hotel intervened in the situation and Boyle, 48, was photographed talking to two officers in the car park following the incident.
A spokesman for Boyle said: "The police were escorting a journalist from the premises who had been winding Susan up.
"Susan and her sister were talking to the police telling them what had happened."
Reports said the church worker from Blackburn, West Lothian, dubbed the Hairy Angel for her unkempt appearance on her show debut, launched a foul-mouthed outburst at the strangers and had to be calmed down by officers.
One onlooker said:"It took her a long time to calm down from whatever upset her. She was breathing heavily and in a terrible rage."
Reports also said the star flew into another rage on Tuesday as show judge Piers Morgan lavished praise on rival singer Shaheen Jafargholi while she watched on TV in the hotel bar.

She reportedly swore and flicked V signs at the TVbefore storming off, but again her spokesman denied it happened.
"She was in the bar but again these journalists kept coming up to her hassling her for interviews," she said.
"Susan is fine now, and if the press backed off the poor woman she would be even better.
