I'm almost lost for words about these stupid ideas. All it really shows is that they want to fix problems like obesity without actually spending the money needed to help people (who need help that is). It's the kind of short sighted idiocy that only governments can achieve :-)
I love the comparison to alcohol - coz taxing that has had so much success in reducing crime, addiction, deaths etc...

Chocolate don't make people fat.  Fat people make people fat!

Wow, that was close, aparently only 2 votes in it for the raising of prices on chocolate.

Yes, doctors certainly have the power to introduce new legislation.

raising choc prices to combat obesity? WOW! what a great idea!!! i mean, god, it worked wonders with cigarettes and stopping people smoking, right?
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

It wouldn't stop people eating it but it would help pay for the NHS treatment that obese people tend to need over a life time.

Tonight in my local off licence the girl in front of me was asked for ID before she was able to purchase her wine . That gave me the idea that maybe the shop assistant could insist on weighing people before selling them chocolate and if they are too heavy he can perhaps sell them something else instead like erm...cigarettes or vodka.

That could work but for one flaw, instead of kids hanging around harassing you to buy them a packet of *fags, you will have a lot of fatties hanging around harassing kids to buy them chocolates or even swap *fags and alcopops for chocolate...

(*fags to our american visitors is slang for cigarettes)
