Lou, if you can invest in lighting, then try... http://www.ge.com/products_services/lighting.html as a starting point to research home LED lighting... You will find the cheapest suppliers are in China, thats where I have been looking to research up on LED bulbs as they seem to be leading the field in LED production and technology at the moment.

A 1 watt LED light is equal to 35~40 Watt bulb.

This is a picture of one of a batch I bought from a UK source. in the shot with it on, thats a 3v button cell, nowhere near the real operating voltage or current. So I can't wait to have one running at operational voltage & current :D

& yes, that is a £1 coin.

No . I  come in my front door, go up some stairs (about 14) then there's a little landing then turn and another 6 stairs and then I have quite a big landing at the top with a high ceiling and because there is no natural light coming in it needs a 150-200 watt bulb.

Well a high power LED one like a 20 Watt LED will be like an Aircraft landing light. Id 1 Watt is about 35 Watts min, then we are talking about 700 Watt equivalent output.

Is that bright enough for you?

So 4 bulbs = 2.8 Kilowatts of light in 80 Watts of power consumption... Thats some power saving.

It's the "three quarters of a day to warm up" that I don't like in those energy saving ones.

Might as well be. I buy my clothes and pies from the wrong places so may as well take the blame for global warming. Oh and I don't ever recycle.

By the time they get bright it's time to turn them off.

The phasing out of traditional light bulbs could cause misery for thousands who have light-sensitive skin disorders, medical experts warned yesterday.
Dr Robert Sarkany said some low-energy bulbs gave vulnerable people painful rashes and swelling.
