What are you planning to have on your pancakes? Are you making them or buying them?
M&S have a tub of ready made batter for anyone not too sure on making it.

tried a lot of ready-made just-add-water mixes - not keen on any of them. so it's homemade all the way. (or maybe i'll give the m&s tub a try.)

as for toppings etc... last year i tried a lot. the most original was kiwi, sugar and double cream. and damn did it work!

I always make pancakes (although I don't eat them) and we usually have lemon and a dash of brown sugar on them.  My husband and son would never let me miss making pancakes. Now my daughter does not live at home, she makes them for her housemates.
Old but spicey!

Pancakes... Easy.

I do not see why people find batter and cakes hard to make...

Pancakes are at their simplest,

Ingredients
2 cups self-raising flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cups. milk
3 tbsp. oil

Thats roughly the proportions, vary slightly to thicken add a little flour or thin the mix by adding small amounts of water.

They only can be found on one Tuesday a year and you have to be up by 4am in order to catch some.

Yep, if you like your cakes fluffy, most recipies ask for baking powder if you look online, whats the point when self raising will do same job.

Plain flour will give you a crepe type cake.

i've used self raising before for pancakes (when i was very young and couldn't be bothered to walk up the shops), and all it did was bubble and lift from the pan and wouldn't cook properly. i ALWAYS use plain. (and i've never needed baking powder.)
