                              16 February 2009

Dear Mr *****

Thank you very much for your email.

Unfortunately we had to withdraw Cabana bars from our range some years ago as
they were  expensive to make and sales were relatively low. It was a difficult
decision for us because we are proud of all our products and do not like to
disappoint our consumers. As far as we know, the brand teams have no plans at
present to re-introduce this line however, we will pass your request on to them.

Thank you once again for taking the time and trouble to contact us. We hope you
will continue to enjoy our products in the future.

Yours sincerely

Isobel Hardy

That my friend is known in the industry as a bull shit half truth.

Expensive to make my ass, Cabana Bars, MMMMMMM MMMMMMM MMMMMMore please.

The real reason will be to do with this "Pea Nut" group, although cabana bars had coconut, it was the cherries in them that were the problem.

So when they actually TELL THE TRUTH, you can email them and praise them for their honesty but for now, email them back and tell them that you posted the reply in a web forum and you have had someone point out the truth and that they should STOP TELLING LIES.

What it would mean if they did bring them back is to produce them in another factory so that ingredients for the bars will not come in to contact with other products and ingredients for other product, so yes, this is the "Expensive" bit in the email.

the way i look at it, there's a lot of old sofas in the world. somewhere, someone is bound to be sitting atop an old Cabana bar, long lost in the confines of the frame. and when it's eventually found - i'll be waiting on ebay.

When I asked the local Tech college canteen about why they stopped selling cherry flapjacks... That was the reason.

The humble cherry belongs to the same family as Almonds, in other words they belong to the Nut family.

I "WAS" at night school studying an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) course in Network Administration. This as usual ended up with no exam because the college pulled course funding because 1 person didn't turn up.

The real reason will be to do with this "Pea Nut" group, although cabana bars had coconut, it was the cherries in them that were the problem.

Cherries are not a declared allergen in the food labelling regulations that impose restrictions on the labelling of food products.
I can see however the link to almonds but even the anapylaxis organisation of the UK doesn't mention them.

They just cannot be arsed making them would be a more truthful answer.
