The f Word
« on: February 01, 2009, 12:27:30 pm »
The heat’s on Gordon Ramsay after he used the F-word a record 132 times.

His two-hour show Ramsay’s Great British Nightmare was peppered with the obscenity.

He screamed at staff in two failing restaurants, who hit back with 50 F-words of their own.

I watched this programme and every other word was f.  I know someone who uses the f word almost as much as Gordon and when i comment on it they claim not to realise they are doing it.

It is very unprofessional for Gordon Ramsey to use that word as part of his everyday working life. Additionally, as he is being broadcast to the nation and many young people are becoming interested in cooking, he should try to control himself. It is an unacceptable dumbing down of standards to allow such a word to be used freely in public. Alternative adjectives should be explored. Perhaps if the BBc fined him for every swear word he used, so that his payment was drastically reduced, he might start trying a bit harder.

I don't like to hear the F word used.  I think chefs do use it a lot because kitchens are such high pressure environments and tempers easily become frayed.

I don't use the F word much myself.  I think it's appropriate in certain circumstances and that tends to be in the bedroom.  In this context it's like to be used as a noun or a verb and not an adjective.

I hate to hear people talk with F'ing this and F'ing that littered throughout their speech.  It's ignorant, slovenly speech and is hard on the ears.

It seems that the F word has now almost become acceptable on TV, while the C word remains relatively taboo.  I am not offended by swearing.

Actually, the word F**k is not a a swear word. If you research it you will find several possible routes for this word.

Plenty of people argue over it and how it actually became an offensive word, anybodys guess.

My mam likes Gordon but won't watch his shows because she finds his swearing is not necessary. I think a lot of people will switch off.

i think it would be grossly unfair if he were fined by the BBC. The programme was on Channel 4 ;0)

Whoops! Silly me! I never watch cookery programmes. To me it's like watching someone do their housework.

I agree the F word is used way to much. I guess some industry promotes TV-profiles to use the word
