Cadbury’s abroad

What is it about Cadbury's abroad.  When I was in Shanghai they sold a fruits of the Forest cadbury's bar, which I've never seen over in this country.  It also tasted different as well.

My sister in Australia has just written to say there are loads of different bars we don't have over here in England  - eg there are different flavours of Freddie Frog, which we only get in one form here.

She said it tastes slightly different as well.

 

Do they use a different recipe or something?  Andwhy can't we get white chocolate Freddies?

Apparently Aussie Cadbury chocolate mings but the Nestlé choc over
there is the same as here. I suppose different countires have different
tastes.

Australian Cadbury's doesn't have the added vegetable oil that we have over here. IMO Australian tastes Cadbury's tastes better.

IMO Australian Cadbury's tastes disgusting.  But there we are - we're all different.  My Australian friends don't like our Cadbury's so perhaps it just depends what you're used to.

Putting aside whether we like the taste of it or not, Cadbury in Australia and South Africa have a huge variety of different flavours.

I have tried a Rum and Raisin flavour bar from South Africa and it was gorgeous. You could smell the rum before you even opened the bar and there was also plenty of raisins in it.

Very true.  And I did quite like Cadbury's with Macadamia nuts (or however you spell it).

Years ago, Cadbury sold loads of different flavours here two including a lovely Rum & Raisin bar. I don't know why they cut the range of flavours down so much - perhaps manufacturing was difficult.

I really miss some of the old stuff - especially Mint Cracknell and Lime Cracknell and Cadbury's Country Style. I could go on but you've all heard it before!!

Country Style - I'd forgotten all about them!  They were wonderful.

Rum and Raisin is still available in some places. Mainly pound stores.

I wonder if Nestlé in Aus do as many weird variations as they do over here.

Goldencup - do you remember Cadbury's Rumba? It came in two wedges, side by side, shorter and much thicker than a fudge bar. It was a fudgey-truffle-type bar with a rum flavour and came in a purple wrapper. It was very rich and quite pricey. An adult type bar??

Sorry, don't remember that one.  My husband does though!  I'm still dreaming of Cadburys Country Style....

What was Country Style? Did it come in a tweed wrapper and moan about bloody townies and their holiday cottages?

Scarily I think you're right on the first point!  Actually I can't remember but I know I liked them.  I think biscuit came into it somewhere.  I'm sure Oldspice will remember.

I remember bars like Top Deck, Turkish Delight, the Rum and Raisin one and Califonia Dreaming. They must have been out around 97? I was a teenager than. I think those bars seemed to go when CDM was foil wrapped. I always thought of them as adult chocolate. Nothing seems to have replaced them.
