This has become so ridiculous. The BBC employed Russell Brand knowing full well his style of humour was close to the bone (not that I think what he did on this occasion was particularly humourous). Presumably that's precisely why several elements of his show are PRE-RECORDED. Sorry Paulham, but I'm one of the people who think it's the editor/producer who let this go to air that should be sacked. He or she is employed to prevent incidents such as this. Yes, Ross and Brand were stupid - but it was BBC production staff who decided, rather than to recognise their mistake and insist they make a private apology to the people involved, to let it go out on air on the UK's most popular radio station.
Last week Georgina Baillie was a complete unknown whose only claim to 'fame' was her grandfather's appearance in a 30 year-old sitcom. Now she's all over the papers and national television (in full make-up and with freshly done hair, despite her apparent 'distress'). Given that she's a burlesque dancer in a troupe called - wait for it - The Satanic Sluts, this sweet little innocent act doesn't wash. Unbelievably, despite admitting she DID sleep with Brand, she's still calling for he and Ross to be sacked. Sack them? She should appoint them as her publicists.
UPDATE: Actually, she doesn't need to - I've just read she's appointed Max Clifford. Because that's just who you want around if you're seeking a swift return to privacy and obscurity, isn't it?
