Mars's traditional Christmas offering

Mars has revealed a nostalgic festive offering for Christmas 2008, as consumers are looking to “more traditional cues”.

Mars has introduced a Mr T Snickers selection box

Mars has opted for Santa advent calendars, and has also redesigned all its Mars tubes with new seasonal designs.

Two new limited edition Christmas designs will appear on the Maltesers 400g box and the Celebrations large carton.

The Christmas Maltesers box will be boosted by £1m of TV advertising, and Celebrations will be supported by £2m of media support which will remind consumers that the 400g Celebrations box is a thank you gift.

Mars has also decided to bring back Mistletoe Kisses in its 2008 Christmas range.

This year, Mistletoe Kisses will have new POS with extra sparkle, and will be supported by £1m of media activity, which will be focused in early November and mid December.

New in selection boxes is the Mr T Snickers Selection Box and Mars predicts the “nostalgic character” will be a hit with boys.

Mars is also pushing for a green Christmas with all selection boxes and advent calendars now made from recycled cardboard, bearing the 'recycle reindeer' logo.

Mars has developed another packaging solution as part of its environmental commitment – the reusable Celebrations tub which is microwaveable and freezer and dishwasher safe.

Thank god for environmentally friendly packaging...I will sleep better at night!!  :P
