Raisin-free a muesli 'a first'

Rude Health has developed a new product that it says represents a first for the breakfast cereal market.

The company's No Flamin' Raisins is the first widely-available organic muesli to contain no raisins, currants or sultanas, according to Talking Retail.

Rude Health explained that it had conducted research into consumers' breakfast cereal preferences, finding that 30 per cent do not want raisins included.

I don't like currants but sultanas are nice.

If it doesn't contain any raisins or other dried fruit, what actually makes it muesli? It's a bit like saying a slice of dry bread is actually a revolutionary filling-free sandwich.

I had dark chocolate raisins last week from one of those "healthy foods" stalls in the centre of shopping malls. I also had milk choc covered macadamias.
The raisins were AWESOME!
Mind you I paid £3-odd for about 100g of them mixed together. The nuts were excellent too.

Hey thanks Lou, that's given me a great idea for a new choc bar. What about a "Raisin Amazin'" bar?

I even have an idea for a jingle: "It's amazin' what raisins can do. Full of goodness and it's all for you."

Man, I'll make a fortune!

Holland and Barrett do a 'muesli base' which doesnt have raisins in, you just add what you want to it. It's got no sugar added either. I usually add almonds or hazelnuts but I'm not a fan of raisins or sultanas.
