She went mad when Trinny and Susannah tried to give her advice. Maybe they were too close to the truth for comfort.

I can't stand that pair. Who are they to tell people how they should dress? There has been a TV trailer all this week in which they annouce 'we have to teach the women of Britain how to shop properly'. I find myself howling at the TV in rage. I'm sick to the back teeth with these so-called 'life coaches' invading every area of our lives, telling us what to eat, wear, decorate and arrange our gardens. I say "bu**er off and mind your own business!!!!!!'.

Absolutely. A frumpy chinless heiress and a hopeless coke addict fashion victim who both dress like mutton. And people actually listen to their advice!

I like watching Gok Wan. I'd be happy for him to take me shopping and give me style advice.

Yes, perhaps I have more time for Gok, because he actually encourages people to accept who they are. However, I still think there is a modern-day mania for self-improvement, home-improvement, de-clutter, clear-out-your-mind/home/wardrobe/garden, re-locate-to-the-country/continent/moon etc. Who decides what is accpetable and who decides what is the norm to which we should all conform?

The other thing that annoys me is the constant suggestion by TV advertising that we have fictional conditions such as 'slower digestive transit' that can only be cured by eating a certain yoghurt. Then there are the 'embarrassing leaks' adverts that convince women they need to wear a particular pad (instead of doing pelvic floor exercises which are free).

Or, we have to use a multitude of cleaning materials and smell machines so that our home is free from 'harmful ozones' or 'bacteria'. It's such a load of codswallop. A regular decent cleaning routine with ONE product (who needs a bathroom AND kitchen cleaner??) is all any of us need.

I've mentioned this before but I'll do it again - a friend of mine who works in a chemical factory says that all these products - bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner, floor cleaner, bubble bath, shampoo - you name it - are basically the same stuff - detergent!  They just add various things to them to make them seem different.

Absolutely Goldencup. And when I have people coming to my home, I always wizz round the bath, sink and loo with a nice smelling bubble bath as it makes everything shiny and nicely smelly.

I can see why you think that Oldspice, but no one forces the participants to do this. If people are happy with how they look and don't feel the need for advice, they won't go on shows like Trinny and Susannah etc. If they want to parade themselves on TV it's their choice.

Top marks to Gok Wan for blind testing anti-ageing products too, but if you have to apply these every day surely you'd just end up with really young-looking fingertips?

Of course, you are right Smurfy, they don't have to take part. The trouble is that we are fed such a diet of this type of show that I am sure many people's self confidence is gradually eroded until they are terrified to step outside the door for fear of looking 'wrong'.

Yep, couldn't agree more Oldspice. You cannot justify what some people do in the name of Islam but their comments about the shallow and decadent West never rang more true.

I'll take 7 consonants and a vowel and two from the top and the rest from anywhere else.
