Wagon Wheels - new recipe
« on: October 02, 2004, 11:19:46 am »

Has anyone tried the new recipe Wagon Wheels?

The old recipe tasted like polystirene and the biscuit was soft, but my friend gave me one and I was really surprised, they seem to have changed it and it was a lot better than I remember.

Question is, has it got smaller?

I hope the chocolate coating has improved too. For years Wagon Wheels have always tasted stale to me.

And yes, of course they've got smaller - and so have Curly Wurlies!

Not so sure about the Walnut Whips but you're probably right.

Wagon Wheels, always used to be nice in the 70's and 80's and then got worse in the 90's. It's something to do with the EU and certain ingredients.  It explains why a lot of different foods tasted better in the olden days.

Somethings changed in the coating as they're now 'Real chocolate coating' instead of 'chocolate flavoured coating'

Although for me the jammie ones are now too jammie.

That's interesting.  For something to be chocolate flavoured as opposed to chocolate flavour it MUST contain chocolate.  So the difference between a 'real chocolate' coating and a chocolate flavoured coating is a subtle one.  I guess it's a question of quantity.

Yes, "chocolate flavoured coating" suggests a coating that is flavoured with chocolate whereas "chocolate flavour" actually means artificial flavour that tastes like chocolate.

I haven't tried the new ones yet. I notice they have taken the cinnamon out of them though.
