Britain's got talent

Here is my assessment of the final last night, which in my opinion was a bit of a travesty.

Firstly I thought the Cheeky Monkeys were wonderful for a child act and the girl really melted my heart.  Even the boy was cute!
Apart from the guy singing Imagine, which was the one weak act in the final I thought the rest were great.  I think the girls playing the violins were accomplished musicians, but I couldn't really concentrate on the music - Ding Dong!  Hot or what!!!

For me the clear winner was the 12 year old vocalist.  She is probably beyond this competition and surely with coaching as her voice finds its range as she gets older is destined for stardom!  I was gutted when she didn't win and although the break dancing kid was good (congratulations to him), there's no way on earth he was better than her.  I can only assume she wasn't to the taste of the Great British public!  And yes I cast my phone vote.

Well for once I more or less agree with you Bounty!  George definitely wasn't the most talented person there but in a way I think he still deserved to win because he was so determined.  Yes that 12 year old was brilliant and so was the boy soprano.  I missed the Cheeky Monkeys - must catch them on the website.  I enjoyed the parts of the show that I saw.

Probably because there was once a football player called Charlie George.

I thought the cheeky monkeys were terrible and what kids can't dance like that.
Escala were my favourite and I thought they would have won. I thought the scottish plumber singing Imagine was rubbish and although Strike were fit looking they didn't hold my attention.
I read that simon cowell has already signed up Faryl Smith (12 yr old vocalist) and she was on GMTV last week saying she has had vocal coaching since she was 7. We won't have seen the last of her.

Are you serious?  Escala were playing a minute part of what you heard - it was nearly all on a backing track and it was only Grade 3 stuff that they were actually playing.  I could have played that when I was ten.
I've since watched the Cheeky Monkeys and thought they were incredible - I don't know too many kids who can do acrobatics like that and their timing was immaculate.

By the way Oldspice, you surely don't expect me to join in with an Arsenal song do you????  I would have been too busy singing about Peter Osgood at the time!

There's always going to be different opinions on stuff like this.  I still think the 12 year old girl singer was the most talented by a country mile.

What the ratings show is that there is an appetite for variety acts like in the 1970's.  I say bring back the Good Old Days.

Me too. I was a huge Chelsea fan in those days and detested Arsenal. When I was old enough to go to matches I went to Leyton Orient (close to home) Tottenham and West Ham (further from home but went with friends).

These days I am strictly loyal to Peterborough United!  I still hate Arsenal and I'm not so fond of Chelsea!
