Me too.  I missed this year's Christmas special because I was in Spain but the New Year one wasn't up to standard I didn't think.

I missed the Xmas one too but seen the New Year one and my friends said it wasn't nearly as good.

Yes, there is a place for serious 'messages' about HIV and poverty and a mainstream comedy isn't one of them.  The ending of the second Christmas special, however laudible was totally inappropriate and spoiled an otherwise good show.
