Microsoft developing 'senior PC'

[Microsoft UK is developing a "senior PC", which will have a simple interface and be aimed at older users.

The PC will come with software that allows users to manage prescriptions as well as simplified tools for everyday use, such as managing photos.

The machine, which it is developing in partnership with charities Age Concern and Help the Aged, is one of several projects the firm is working on. ]

I think it sounds great. Imagine, a special version of Word for the elderly; when you type in 'the whatsername' or 'the thingiymujig' it would automatically convert it to the right word because 'ooh, you know what I mean'!

 That is funny Smurfy - but actually, when you think about it, many older people WOULD have used computers for a good part of their working lives because, after all, computers are many decades old now, but some older people would have used the old punch-card operated computers.

 

My students think I'm too old to know anything about computers but in reality I've used them for at least half of my life, which is much longer than some of them have been alive!

My mother used to use computers working at Natwest when they first introduced them (early seventies), but now she doesn't have a clue, so I suppose it would be good for people who are out of practice. (Don't tell anyone I referred to my mother in a thread about 'seniors' - she's only 57!)
