Supermarkets are bracing themselves for panic buying of onions as last year's drenching begins to kick in with the failure of the onion crop.

"The good old English onion is now almost depleted, although Spanish onions are still avaialable", said Simon Sproughton of the national onion council.

I really could not survive without onions.  They are my most favourite vegetable. Only last night, I cooked a huge Chilli Con Carne with lots of red onions and baked beans instead of kidney beans (because we had a glut of baked beans casued by hubby's over-buying in Lidl) and I served into well-cooked jacket potato.
Old but spicey!

I prefer red onions too or spring onions.  Presumably they don't count as 'good old English onions'.  I confess I don't even know where they come from.Embarrassed

I always buy Spanish onions anyway. I'm just a size queen when it comes to onions.
Who needs karma when you know you're great already?
