Why doesn't anyone in Albert Square have a washing machine?

This is because going to the laundrette, harks back to some halcyon day when it gave the woman of the house a day off from using the mangle.  Eastenders attempts to recreate some sort of out dated notion of the East End where people still say 'Awright darlin' and eat jellied eels.

You've got me going now.

Quote from: loulou
I don't think coffins are burnt in cremations. i think they take the body out and sell the coffin back to the coffin maker. obviously undertakers and coffin makers have some deal going or else there would be as many coffin makers as there are undertakers...discuss.

Oh yes they are. I have personally witnessed it.

The cremation coffins are different to burial ones, thickness I believe.

Did you know it takes hours rather than minutes to properly incinerate people and that all artifical joints and pacemakers have to be removed first.

It's also not as effective as total burning, as witnessed in the 'wick effect'.  The heat in such instances is around 5,000 c +, in cremation it is merely 3,500 C
