Chocolate flavoured yogurts

HI  

WHEN I WAS ABOUT 6 OR 7 I REMEMBER EATING CHOCOCALTE FLAVOURED YOGURTS.  I HAVE A STRANGE FEELING THAT THEY WERE ONE OF SKI'S MANY FLAVOURS.  BUT I CANNOT FIND ANY CHOCOLATE FLAVOURED YOGURTS ANYWHERE.  BEG MY PARDON, I HAVE LOCATED WHITE CHOCOLATE BUT IT'S NO THE SAME. 

 

SO IF YOU LOCATE ANY PLEASE  POST ASAP.   I HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH COLD TTURKEY FOR ABOUT 38 YEARS.

I know that up to a few years ago Muller used to do a chocolate yogurt, possibly also a Mullerlight version, but it seems to have been phased out in favour of 'healthy', fruit centred tastes. I really miss things like the full chocolate-y Dessert and McVities Corners, and Galaxy sundaes.

I think Eden Vale did a chocolate yoghurt in the 60s and 70s. One vivid memory I have is of my father (who was a milkman in the days when they were starting to banch out into groceries) bringin home Richard Todd Dairies 'choc top' yoghurts. These were lemon or orange yoghurts with a slightly firm but not crunchy chocolate toppping. They were weird but lovely.

I examined the Stony 'Never Too Chocolate' yoghurt in ASDA today and from what I could see it seemed to be vanilla flavoured yoghurt with chocolate sauce underneath, rather than an actual chocolate flavoured yoghurt.

I am/was watching a TV prog about yoghurt and had a flashback to a choc yog available in the late 60's/early70's(googled and found this site) - I think it was ski but could have been another brand - I occasionally look for a modern equivalent but am always disappointed - this yog was solid(when you took a spoonful the gap left didn't cave in)had a thin clear liquid layer on top and had a beautiful bitter plain choc/cocoa flavour - it must be brought back!

I remember those! They were called Choc Tops and I think they were made by Eden Vale. However - my dad was a milkman in the 60s and he sold yoghurts from Richard Todd's Dairies from his float. Richard Todd was an actor who diversified into farming. That was the first time I ever tasted yoghurt and you are spot on - a solid sour-tasting mass with a solid surface of chocolate! So Eden Vale probably were not the first to stick a chocolate lid on their yoghurts!

I saw that programme last night. It was really interesting.

Strangely back in the 90's, fro-fros made some with chocolate shell fill with yoghurt yum!

   Had some lovely chocolate yog in Ireland, but even that was a good six or seven years ago now. The brand was 'Sno' I think and it was quite a thick, almost set kind of yogurt if memory serves. Deeelish!!! Do us Brits not like chocolate yogurt then? I'd have thought we would. Anyway, if anyone's hankering after some creamy, chocolatey, yogurty delight, I suggest getting a tub of Total Greek yogurt and stirring in a good few heaped dessert spoons of Nutella. Best do this in a bowl so you can get a good mixing action going. Then comes the hard part: put it in the fridge for several hours, preferably overnight, rather than eating it straight away. If you long for chogurt you will LOVE this, guaranteed.

   Did I notice a recipe section earlier. . . ? Maybe I should stick this in there too.
