One friend is going to a wedding that has been planned for 2 years, I know that if it wasn't for that she would have been there. She is annoyed that she is missing it. I don't feel too bad about that, though I do wish she was there. We have been mates since we were 5.

But the other said its the only time her and her boyfriend can get time off work together to go on holiday, not too happy about this one. I wouldn't plan a holiday over my friends 21st!

But I will be taking plenty of pictures but I will be looking gorgeous!

It will still be fun without them but better if they could have been there.

I've been reading about that 11 year old who has committed 16 street robberies in two months. There is a long article about him in today's Daily Telegraph. His mother blames the absent father and the social workers. His father, on being interviewed, said:

"I first got to know him when he was about seven"

For God's sake. Who are these people? The mother has five children by four fathers. Most of the fathers have no meaningful role in their children's lives - they just seem to be men who drifted through the mother's bedroom at various stages. The children are badly behaved and mostly living on the streets by choice and the mother bleets to the social services because she cannot cope. With her own children!

I'm even more bloody depressed now.

So blind that she can't even see how unfitting her own parenting skills are? Bollocks! And why keep doing it for christ's sake?

Some people didn't ought to be allowed to have children, until they can provide the means and faculties to raise them properly.

I have this idea, some call it sinister, but hear me out.

ALL persons are reversibly sterilised at birth and cannot procreate ( sure, shag as much as they like) until they have proven to be fit and capable of being a responsible parent. How is this done? A jury of peers, social services or some other body.

Yes, yes it's inflammatory, human rights, blah, blah. We do however need to find solutions to this ill.

True, you have to go through that sort of thing to adopt, so why not to have your own?

I don't want to agree, but I kind of do agree. I am so sick of these pathetic women saying "I asked the social services to help but they wouldn't". If they cannot reason with their own children, how do they expect anyone else to ? It is not the job of social services to raise children whose parents have given up.

It is hard to be a parent, you have to make sacrifices and establish routines and boundaries so that the children get some structure. It's not all about throwing designer clothes and toys at them.

I don't know what the answer is. i give up.
