I ate cake before lunch today in case it all got eaten before I had the chance to get a slice. Is that wrong?

Yes, the day my manager was leaving in my old job. I suddenly realised if I didn't go in I'd never have to see her again - plus it meant I didn't put myself out of a job by smashing her over the head with a pot plant!
