Where are the poppy sellers this year?  On The One Show they did say there was a shortage of people volunteering to go on the streets with them but this is ridiculous 30th October and I still haven't seen any. Usually someone stands inside the supermarket but not as yet.

We have them on sale at my college in reception. I haven't seen any in town, but then I avoid town as much as possible.

Most of the volunteers are pensioners who lived through the war, so it's sadly inevitable as the years go by that there will be fewer.

A few years ago there was trouble when students in sunderland were selling white poppies.  I think they said they symbolised peace.

That's right.

When I was at school, the boy who sat next to me came from a family who were all Quakers.  Apparently, they refuse to wear the red poppy as they believe it symbolises bloodshed and instead, they wear a white poppy as a symbol of peace.

I only seen them the one time and there was so much written about it in our local newspapers. I don't agree with them being white.

I remember when you used to see white poppies a lot - you don't seem to see them anymore. I remember Claire Rayner on TV-AM wearing both the white and the red, which I thought was a good idea.

Where would it stop if we wore a red and a white poppy. People would be bringing them out in all colours.

You don't have to wear a poppy of any colour, but personally I think wearing both is a good idea.

I remember a few years back, there were dozens of complaints made to the BBC because one of their weather forecasters wasn't wearing a poppy.  Is it really so important?  To be brutally honest, I haven't bought one since I was a kid.

You should only wear one if it's a genuine gesture.  I like the idea of a white poppy with a red centre. The red cnetre reminds us of the blood shed in war and the white symbolises the hope of peace.

It should be an individual choice - if the forecaster didn't want to wear a poppy, I don't think he or she should have had to just because they worked for the BBC.

Marble went to Munich on business today and asked whether it was appropriate to wear one over there.
I really wasn't sure but advised best not to chance it in case it has a different meaning there.

I must apologise for my nations actions in the war.
