Hosepipe bans in August have not been ruled, out a spokesman from Offwat has said.

Roger Curtain from the water watch dog said

'Although this has been the wettest summer since records began with some counties having their annual rainfall in three days, we can't entirely rule out the bans on hosepipes as this was the wrong sort of rain.'

I suppose, instead of running into underground reserves, it overflowed into rivers and lakes and sewers, causing them to overflow and pollute the rest of the supply.
Old but spicey!
