18 yrs to deliver a letter.
« on: July 04, 2007, 09:27:34 am »
Yesterday my brother received a letter and on opening it he immediatley looked to see who it was from.   It was from someone he knew many years ago and he commented he couldn't understand why this person was writiing to him after so long. Then after reading the first few lines he looks at me and tells me this letter is making no sense at all , so I pick up the envelope to make sure it is addressed to my brother and I look at the post date and it is 1989.LOL My brother then realises this letter is a reply to one he sent to his friend back in 1989.

This is a good one, although letters much older than this have been delivered.  I think there is one recently from the WWI.  They get stuck behind radiators and things!  Bizarre.

He doubts his friend is still in the same area now as the letter was discussing going to live in Germany and they did lose touch so I told him to go look on friendsreunited.

Good idea.  That reminds me - what's this Facebook all about?  I keep hearing about it.

It's a cross between mySpace and Friends Reunited - but unlike FR, it's free.

I've just spent 3 hours on myspace. It's quite fascinating.

i find that on MySpace you can jump around and see and read most peoples profile..where on Facebook everyones profile is private..you have to be added as a friend to see someones profile..so if someone has an old picture/any picture/no picture it's hard to tell if you've found the person your looking for..

i joined Facebook but it's taking a while to get used to it...

What I tend to do is look at people's friend lists (these are not usually private). You may recognise someone you know, or be able to tell from the location of their friends who they are; e.g. if you know someone moved to Bristol and they have lots of friends listed in Bristol.
