I feel if within myself. But it's only day 2. The weekend might be a little more difficult as its the time I eat the most chocolate.

I am going out tonight and its going to be a killer not just ordering a 'coke' or something. I dont want a J2O as they are too sugary.

Ah so now it's not 40 days but 46.  Interesting.  Silly Yank are you related to George W Bush?

I think they say 46, because you dont count the sundays or something...

I am going to count the Sundays else I might just pig out on choc and that would be against the point, for me anyway.

Its Day 3 and it's still going well. My boyfriend had some Herhsey Kisses and Lindt Lindor last night and he insisted on giving me one. so I have put these in a bag along with my prized Pink Yorkie and my Caramac Kit Kat (thank you Hilary!)

Thank you for explaining to Bounty, Salsa. Sundays don't count towards the 40 days, so thus the total period is 46 days.

I don't appreciate being compared to George W. Bush and am quite offended. Just because I know about the religion I was brought up with doesn't mean that I'm a religious fanatic or a Bush supporter (I voted for Kerry and am proud of it). I actually do not attend church anymore, but mainly participate in Lent to give moral support to my mom - who is also giving up chocolate. So, no that you're enlightened about my situation, there will be no need for personal attacks when asking for clarification on a given topic.

Anyway, enough of my rant, I usually count Sundays too, Choc Chick, else I'd probably give up after the first weekend!

I know...if I give in and have the chocolate I will over eat and undo all the good work done in the week. Might even lose a few pounds.

"Religious", is very often associated with "benighted", and I think, sillyyank, you have just very gracefully demonstrated the complete opposite. Well done! Also, good luck with the chocolate fast, I know I'm way too self-indulgent to be able to do that. So my resolution would have to be something like keeping off easter eggs during lent, which I just might pull off...

Sorry Silly yank, that was awfully rude of me and I apologise.  I still am not happy with the explanation though and I will seek clarification from the church.

I am still going well with the no chocolate for lent regrime. My boyfriend has been eating it in front of me but I have been strong and said no. When I have wanted something I have had some starbursts and fruity polos. But all in all I am suprising myself each day!

How's everyone else getting on?

I'm still sticking to it, even though my family sent me a care package with my fav. chocolate from home! It's tempting me...
