Paul Potts first sang opera at the age of 28 for a karaoke competition he dressed up as Pavarotti.

He went on to perform in Barrymores My Kind Of Music (1999). The money he won from the show (8000) along with his savings was spent on attending various training courses in Italy.

loulou,

Thanks very much for the follow-up.  I don't know why, but I really like to see stories like that.  On GMA, two of the hosts were teary-eyed when the segment of Britin Has Talent concluded.

Thanks again...

I was not that impressed with Paul Potts.  Neither did I like that young lad (Dominic?) who sang 'I'll be there.'   My son sang that in a show a few years ago and he was as good if not better and I certainly don't consider his voice is anything special.  I thought the lad who did the baton twirling was brilliant.

The little joke teller was a bit lame though. Some of his jokes were older than me!

Indeed! LOL  I just watched that six year old singing 'Over the Rainbow' on Youtube (missed the show) and she was amazing.  That Bessie last night was good too.  I'm definitely getting addicted - might even have to stay in on a Sunday night for once!

I only watch short bursts of the show. That grinder lady was on again last night. It makes you wonder how she discovered that as a form of entertainment.  I mean, when it comes to thinking about what you can perform in public, producing  sparks from your pelvic region doesn't immediately spring to mind - does it?

LOL  I often wonder about things like that when you read those 'Hints and Tips' in magazines.  For instance I saw one recently that said if you get chewing gum in your hair you should put peanut butter on it and it will comb out.  Peanut butter isn't what you'd automatically reach for is it?

It's pretty hard to get chewing gum in your hair too!  No, I would not reach for peanut butter. I hear you should freeze the gum and it peels off so I guess I would nip into the chest freezer for an hour or so!

A contestant has been axed from the show after it was discovered he was a sex offender. The Sun had the classic headline 'Britain's Got Perverts'.

Apparently a policeman who had arrested the man for interfering with a 14 yr old boy saw the show and rang in.

The Kit Kat Dolls were hurriedly booted off Britain's Got Talent show  after the News of the World discovered three of them were selling sex.
