Weeks before anyone at our work place start their summer holidays we had an email round today announcing the date and location of our staff Christmas party!

We all groaned loudly though! Christmas! We are staggering under the weight of end-of-academic-year work and start-of-academic-year-preparations and many of us can't see the wood for the trees never mind Christmas! We don't even think we'll have time for a summer holiday!

I agree; I'm sweltering in the heat and am only just getting used to it being Summer! I can't think about Christmas yet.

It's a good job Salsa isn't here - she'd be telling us off for not having bought all our presents and planned the family visits yet!

Actually, I did buy some Christmas presents on Saturday! At least, they could be Christmas presents. Our local Co-op department store (Westgate House) was selling sets of four beautiful bone china mugs in gorgeous decorative boxes for only 5 per set. We bought four sets. They are great for young family members setting up new homes.

Hot?  Summer?  I haven't even been in the sea yet this year!

I read a news report that said Britain's sea is so dirty you have a one in seven chance of getting ill if you go in paddling or swimming so perhaps you are better off just laying in the beach!

Hmmm, I think (and hope!) it depends which bit of sea you swim in.  I live next to a Blue Flag beach.
