« on: June 04, 2007, 11:30:46 pm »
My hubbie and I love all your chocolate bars but his particular favourite is the Old Jamaica bar, which used to be in an orange wrapper.

Could anyone please tell me if this has been discontinued becasuse we cananot find it anywhere?

Many thanks for your kind help.

Jo

Discontinued in around 2003 I think.

It's a fair dinkum bar, sport.

It's a great shame Cadbury discontinued their Classics range. Bring back Tiffin!

Yes! And Country Style!

I still really miss Amazin Raisin. They had a lovely white nougat centre (like topic without the nuts) shot through with raisins and a milk chocolate top and plain chocolate bottom. No rum flavour though.

You need to be taken a trip to the Emerald Isle, to be sure.

This is not about Old Jamaica Bars ( I remember the television advert with a voice similar to Robert Newton's Long John Silver, saying, "Old Jamaky", or some such guff). Not a pleasant confection. I recall it had that nasty faux rum flavour. A bit like the disgusting Wall's Rum and Raisin emulsion which passed for ice cream.

However, the Tiffin was a substantial snack. Not only chocolate but crushed biscuit ( and not that aerated Ricicle stuff, but bits of digestive) and raisins. I remember buying it from my local sweetshop/newsagent and I think it was 6d a bar. Was it in an orange wrapper? Who made it? Is it still on sale?

I must be told to get some relief from these sleepless nights.

Punter on the TV/film forum and news site Digitalspy.co.uk who says he has just seen some OJ bars in his local Co-op...

edit: Ah I see why, with the release of the Bourneville OJ Bars imminent.

They are £1 in Sainsbury's. There is also an orange Bournville with real orange pieces. They are made by Cadbury France, so no vegetable fats.
