If I was a struggling actor who had paid his dues as an understudy for years, I'd be pretty pissed off to see someone with no experience walk into a lead role because a competition was 'unknowns only'.

But that's what makes interesting television.  It wouldn't be the same to watch a load of experienced actors audition - they do that all the time.

But does that mean experienced actors should be barred?

You would think very differently if millions of pounds of your money was at stake.

But have any of the people behind the show actually said that? For me, it's about finding the best talent - and if that means someone who's spent years as an understudy, being passed over for the leads in favour of bigger names, getting the chance to shine in front of millions of viewers, so be it.

I'd never thought of that!  LOL

I was disgusted that when one of them was asked to name the colours of the coat, he couldn't do it.  I learnt them when I was 16 and have never forgotten (sad I know).
