Spiders found living in boy's ear

A boy got a shock when he found out two spiders had moved in and made a new home in his ear.

Nine-year-old Jesse Courtney from Oregon in America noticed a faint popping noise in his ear and mentioned it to his mum.

But when his ear started to ache he decided to visit a doctor who thought he could spot something deep inside.

The doctor washed Jesse's ear out and to everyone's surprise a dead spider emerged, followed by a live one.

The Royal National Institute for Deaf People said staff working where loud music was played should get ear plugs.

A poll of 200 businesses showed that over half of employers have no plans to make hearing protection available - despite new laws coming in next year.

I have special ear plugs that I wear when I'm performing extra-loud music.  I think the damage has probably been done already though.

As part of some fun staff development courses last Christmas i did Samba drumming and we had to wear earplugs. I still found it hard to play my bit of drumming without falling in with what the person next to me was playing. It was fun though.

I just love those courses don't you?  We had an African drumming one a while ago and last week we had one where we had to build marble runs out of newspaper and paper clips!  Totally pointless I think, but good fun.
