I'm not sure if that's the name of them, but Nestle did a chocolate bar with popping candy and puffed rice in a while back - does anyone know if you can still get these?

I miss them.

I haven't seen them for a long time. I think the Wonka brand went wonky!

Oh that'd be a shame, I liked Wonka chocolate.
I think I liked the idea as much as the actual chocolate, as I am a big fan of the original movie with Gene Wilder. Some how the idea that 'The Candy Man' was really making chocolate made the world seem like a friendlier place.

I didn't like that film at all! He really made me feel queasy. Still, I also had an unexplained and pathological fear of Pinky and Perky.

Oh really? Wow. Well it wouldn't do for all of us to like the same things or feel the same way about things but I've never heard anyone say that before. At least not about Gene Wilder. But then I don't get out much so......Smile
As for Pinky and Perky...............I could see that actually. Their eyes were a bit creepy. LOL

Slightly off topic and just out of interest, when you google Pinky and Perky like I just did, some of the pictures you get are really.....erm....odd.
Even odder (or should that be more odd?) than the actual Pinky and Perky, who in my opinion look possessed, and would have terrified me as a child!  Confused

And imagine being a four year old with about fifty different phobias and twenty types of body twitch (as I had) and going to see a relative who puts the TV on and filling the screen are these two mad-looking pigs, dressed like Hillbillies, just dangling there singing!  They haunted my sleep for years and years.  I was a bit of a mess as a child actually.

Ahh but you were supposed to feel that way about Stephen King's 'IT'.
For me the book was worse (or better) that the film. Much more scary. And don't get me started on "We all float down here". Oohhh creepy.

But I think the idea behind Pinky and Perky was that they were supposed to be lovable tv companions for a generation of children. Not something that looked scary enough to be a Doctor Who villain.

How did you manage to have fifty different phobias at only 4 Oldspice? Crikey I can't imagine being that scared ever. Did that make you a cautious adult or as you grew and left them behind did you get reckless to make up for it? You don't have to answer that if you don't want to I am just being nosy and it's none of my business.  Hug

No offense intended.

indigo blue fish was it the Xploder? If so the only article I could find on it was about it's launch and was dated March 20th 2000, so that is possibly too long ago to be the bar you're talking about?

I cannot find anything about whether or not it is still available.

Sorry I can't be more help. Smile

Well, it may not have been as many as 50 but I did have an extreme anxiety disorder that caused me to fear and whole range of things and situations. I was scared of certain foods and could not eat them if they were arranged in a certain way (ie a few beans at the edge of the plate away from the rest), I could not eat anything with a skin such as custard, rice pudding, potatoes with skins on, I could not eat most meats, I could not sleep with my back to the window because I feared imaginary triangular-shaped creatures called lergy men lived on top of the curtain rail, I was scared of animals - there are loads more that I can't remember. I also had compulsive traits and felt I had to behave in a certain way to stay safe. When I was about 6 I started having compulsive ticks, tremors and twitches that affected my stomach, face and shoulder mainly.

My phobias started to fade as I grew up and most of my twitches calmed down but I still have the odd facial grimace and shoulder arching when I am stressed.  I also have little rituals that are harmless but keep me calm.

It has been suggested that all this happened because my mother was very ill throughout my childhood and I was frequently whisked away to strange foster homes or farmed out to relatives for short periods of time. However, I think the behaviour pre-dates some of these events.

Oldspice.
I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply to this, I have been thinking about it for a while but I still don't know what to say.

First of all I am sorry your mum was so ill. That must have been a lot for a small child to deal with. You must have an incredible amount of bravery and inner strength.

It is strange actually, that you mention you could not eat most meats, because I have problems with meat aswell. Mostly a safety thing though. I do eat it, but only if I have cooked it myself. Restaurants are a big problem for me, so I never can eat out, especially not hotdogs and burgers. With the beans, did they worry you or did you feel sorry for them (did they look like they were making a break for freedom?) I only ask this because I could never eat the last pea on my plate. For some reason a lone anything was just too precious to be eaten. LOL

I think it's possible that everyone has some little rituals they do, either on purpose or even in some cases without even knowing they do them. They are so much a part of the way they behave they're not even aware of them.

Lastly, I want to thankyou for answering my questions, and not telling me to go away and shoot myself in the foot. I really appreciate it.

Old spice   very sorry to hear about your childhood, some people may read the above and ust think what a crazy person you are but I know others who have had similar problems and like you as they aged the phobias dwindled away. Still, could not have been a happy time for you, hope you're making up for it now.

Thanks Scarlett and Glamrocker, for your kind and supportive words. I think a lot of children suffer from anxiety and it just goes unrecognised. Much of my childhood was very happy because I had loving parents and the support of my church. Gradually my phobias did fade and although I do get anxieties of various sorts, I have been able to achieve highly over the last 20 years and i think this is because I channel the energy anxiety generates into more positive things.

I wasn't looking for sympathy though, it was all a very long time ago but I hope that, by sharing it, others can feel better if they have anxieties and also they might not feel so alone.
