Why do florists double the price of flowers for mothers day then try saying they need to on special occasions to make their money? Surely florists make enough money all year, there's permanently birthdays, weddings, funerals and anniversaries.

I quite agree.  There are some good offers on in the supermarkets at the moment though and my last lot of Somerfield flowers lasted over two weeks!

If I sent my mum flowers for mother's day she'd probably faint. LOL
She expects a soppy, sloppy card and a box of chocs that she shares with me 'cause if she ate them all herself she'd "get fat".

But flowers would be too much for her, she might never get over it.

As Goldencup said, there are good deals on flowers at the supermarket. Our local florist recently went out of business. I guess people only go to the florist for something extra special.
