Somebody on the radio today mentioned this TV programme. Did anyone watch it? i remember sitting down with an aunt and really enjoying it!

It was a family living in Virginia. Dad was a wood cutter. They were a Christian family and there were loads of kids with double-barrelled names like Jim-Bob, John-Boy and Mary-Jo.

Old but spicey!

I used to love The Waltons. It was always on Sunday mornings on Channel 4 when I was growing up.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Remember when John-Boy came home with a different face? It just wasn't as good after that.

Yep I watched Mary Ellen, Elizabeth, Jim Bob and John Boy along with Ike and Corribeth from the local store. It was Sunday morning viewing along with Little house on the Prairie.

I used to love the Waltons. Watched it every weekend.

I would have loved growing up in a family like that, and how I have always longed to own a mountain!

I loved all those family meals around the big table in The Waltons and the way 'gramaa' and 'grapaa' were  always so naughty!

Will Geer, who played Grandpa, was a very controversial figure in real life. He was openly bisexual and was blacklisted as a communist for years after the McCarthy witch-hunts.

I don't get how a man can be bisexual.  He was gay but pretended to like women.

But I suppose you have no problem with a woman being bisexual.

That's right, but it is genuinely different.  The reason being that the sex between two women is much more similar to  sex between a man and a woman than between two men.

I'll never be coninced of male bisexuality if you write a thesis on it.  It's a myth.  Several gay men have relationships with women but they're still gay.  There's a lot more to sexuality than just sex.
