A 15-year-old girl has been stabbed at Liverpool Lime Street railway station.

The girl, from the Merseyside area, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Liverpool Hospital, where she is in a stable condition.

Two 15-year-old girls were arrested by officers from British Transport Police (BTP) in connection with the incident.

It worries me that young girls are carrying knives.

A 17 year old boy was stabbed and murdered in Leeds the other day and yesterday I saw police tape all round a local park. This is why I daren't go out by myself at night.

Apparently though, crime rates are falling.

my Daughter lives in Leeds for now..

Kevvosa does this park have a name or is it just a little swing park ? i'd like to ask my Daughter if she lives near to it..

It's a small park near the college of building (I think). Near the little london area.

If your daughter is at Uni I'm guessing she'll be near Hyde Park which should be safe.

I'm shocked. It's just been on the local news that the park I mentioned is where a rape took place.

Good grief that's awful. I don't understand the mentality of people who would do such a thing.

I carry a knife and have done since I was a teenager. I have had several over the years and never once have I thought of stabbing anyone with any of them.

I use it to open boxes and slit sellotape, dig holes for bulbs, cut wire, fish beads out of small holes in the pavement where my toddler has dropped them, pry the backs off watches, and a million other uses that I can't think of at the moment.

I am quite sure that if I was ever found with it on my person by a member of the police force I would be in big trouble, but I would quite frankly be lost without it after all this time.

I'm not sure the laws on carrying knives with you but I'm pretty sure it's illegal? I think best thing would be to carry some sort of hairspray in a bag and if you get attacked spray it in their eyes. I saw a programme where it showed women clubbers how to defend themselves and it said to do stuff like that.

Although I don't think they'd be very helpful for all the legitimate uses that Velvet mentioned.

About 7 years ago I was driving home at night and needed to change a tyre. I couldn't do it because the wheel trims on my car had been secured with plastic cable ties by the garage and I had nothing to cut them with. Ever since then I have always carried a Swiss Army knife. It has all sorts of uses (like Velvet described earlier) and I wouldn't be without it. It's not like I have it open in my pocket, I just carry it in my handbag.
