One way to beat a fine...
« on: February 12, 2007, 10:18:09 pm »

How desperate would you be to avoid a speeding ticket? A Swansea woman took the somewhat extreme step of faking her own death. 47 year-old Glenda Askew persuaded her daughter to write to the court claiming she had been killed in a car crash - but perhaps unsurprisingly, Ms Askew's deception failed.

The case has been adjourned for three weeks pending sentencing.

Who needs karma when you know you're great already?

i ws stopped once doing 80mph on the yeovil road (which is a misleading 30 zone). the cop asked me if i knew how fast i was going? my response was 'nowhere near as fast as you, 'cause you caught up with me!'

amazingly (i dont know how or why) but they let me off without a ticket, who said cops don't have a sense of homour?

I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago. I was apparantly doing 40 in a 30 area... again it is a bit misleading what the speed is in that area.

The policeman said I had been speeding and I said I had been unaware of that. He asked me if I lived nearby and when I told him I live just minutes away he said I should know the speed limit there. I replied I didn't say I didn't know the limit, I said I didn't know I was speeding! He was really nice about it and let me off with a warning! He even took the time to show me how far he could reach with his speed gun after I asked what the distance was on it. (Mental note to make sure I reduce speed well within range!)

Are you sure you weren't flirting with him and making him feel clever.
