There's only certain areas I will live and will only consider Ouseburn, near the Quayside, or the top end of Westgate. I've heard bad things about Benwell and Elswick in particular.

623 you shouldn't know about them horrible places. Only live there if you intend to go into the drugs business.That's more north tyneside than newcastle.

Yes we have a beach and not far from Whitley Bay. I live in a small village.

Unfortunately all the seafront is boarded up and not like it was years ago in Whitley bay. Now it is always full of stag and hen parties at weekends. Tynemouth is more old fashioned and has lots of quaint buildings and restaurants and bars that only 30 plus go into so good for a night out.

I haven't heard good things about Gateshead but I think the areas near the river are ok as they aren't too close to the centre of Gateshead.
