Farewell Lion :-(

Looks like Lion bar is getting the axe: http://business.timesonline.co.uk:80/article/0,,13130-257355 3,00.html

I guess they're right but it'll still be sad when it goes

Perhaps we can ask them to bring it back now and again as a limited edition (maybe that's too hopeful that Nestle'll be willing to pony up some cash once in a while).

I suppose it's sad that it's going, but is it really that surprising? They have made it taste crap, so of course sales are going to fall. If they could cover it in a generous amount of better quality chocolate then maybe people would buy it. It's their own fault for not investing more to improve it.

I agree with this. Years ago I ate a Lion or a Yorkie virtually every day but I would not eat one of these bars now. In a way I already said 'goodbye' to the Lion when Nestle made it so bad.

Same here. I loved them as a kid, especially the 'mini' version you could get in multipacks. But as people grow up I think they go for better quality chocolate.

I'm surprised that Toffee Crisp hasn't stopped being made as they taste even worse than Lion.

I shall be quite sorry to see them go.  I had one recently and it was surprisingly pleasant - I thought they'd improved them during the last year or two.  Certainly the original version was delicious - with a thick coating of good quality chocolate.

They used to be lovely. Sadly, they are no longer so. I won't miss them but I shall mourn what they once were.
Old but spicey!

Ok I changed my mind. I said I didn't care cos I don't like them but that is a bit selfish so I think keep them for people like wjp who like them.

My friend had a kingsize Lion bar today. I had some and it was OK.

It will be sad to see this classic bar go, but as people have said, it's gone down the dip. I love the way Nestle are trying to spin its demise though - health conscious consumers my foot! Taste conscious more like!
Who needs karma when you know you're great already?

Oldspice, isn't it scary when we hear bars that were introduced when we were adults, described as 'classic'
