70’s Sweetie Help!
« on: January 04, 2007, 10:24:31 am »

OK, this is not really chocolate as such, but it's been bugging me for years.  In the late 70's, there used to be a brand of fruit flavoured boiled sweets that were a bit like Spangles but round.  There were loads of different flavours and they may not all have been fruity.  I think the advert featured a cartoon boy and a dog, but that's probably my mind playing tricks on me.

Can anyone help?

There used to be sweets called lemon drops, orange drops, cherry drops and I think they did an aniseed one too. They were round, flat on top but curved at the sides and came on rolls, not bags. I think they were made by Trebor.

I'd forgotten those!  I used to love the cherry ones.  I reckon you're right Oldspice - as usual!

Yes, this is sounding good.  They definitely came in rolls, but I thought they had a collective name?  My memory doesn't go back that far.

No, the ones I am thinking of didn't have a collective name. If I remember  right, the orange ones had a soft centre.

I've never heard of Double Agents. They're not the ones I'm thinking of.
