Did you watch it? Wasn't it brilliant watching the vicar get married in her jamas and having daleks for bridemaids.

Oh no, I missed it!

Geraldine got married, who to???

Oh please tell me who to?

I love this programme, especially the christmas episode with all the dinners.   I cried with laughter when she got her bum stuck in the chair!

Some accountant  called Harry who just moved to the village. Maybe it will be repeated as it was the last ever episode.

Dawn French's Reverend Geraldine Granger with Harry, played by Richard Armitage

I thought the first part was hilarious but the last one more touching. It was lovely to see her married and a perfect end to the series. Though I think they tried a bit too hard with all the pop culture references (Girls Aloud, Shakira, etc).

I bought the box set from Virgin the other day

I loved the vicar's conversation with Alice about who should conduct the wedding. After some thought Alice suggested the Chief Rabbi

 Geraldine:  "But he's Jewish, Alice"

  Alice (sounding shocked) "That's a bit anti-semitic, isn't it?"

And when the committee visit her home late at night, as they all file in Geraldine comments "Oh good, the whole asylum!".

I thought both episodes were good and a nice way to end the series. I especially liked when Geraldine jumped in the puddle on the Christmas Day episode to hide; it looked like the same puddle she fell in when she was walking with Simon Horton (Clive Mantle) in an earlier episode.

One puddle is very like another. But I see what you mean. You might like to look at pages 29 and 41 in the Observers book of puddles by R.Ditch,  Hamlyn £9.99.

It was the same puddle. There was a reference to it earlier in the programme when Alice asked Geraldine if she remembered jumping in the puddle to impress Simon.

I especially liked the bit during the ceremony when the vicar (not Geraldine) kept making all the asides - like encouraging people to make an objection and saying "So you say" (or similar) when Harry made his vows!

I remember the original 'puddle' incident, it's on my boxset somewhere.

One of my favourite extracts from The Vicar:

Alice on returning from her honeymoon and explaining how she had been playing 'hide the purple parsnip' for two weeks non-stop "And I keep feeling sick in the mornings"

Geraldine: You know, I reckon you're pregnant"

Alice: "Oh no, I can't be, cos the hamster didn't turn blue"

I missed the wedding unfortunately - but the first episode was good fun. I even forgave them for that tasteless 1 hour commercial break for the End Poverty campaign they tried to pass off as a Christmas special a couple of years back.
Who needs karma when you know you're great already?
