It's simple. Golden Cup was made by Mackintoshes (as was Toffee Crisp and Rolo). If i remember rightly, Mackintoshes was bought out by Rowntrees, who in turn became Nestle.

Nestle own the brand names, even if they don't actually still make the product. They probably kept the brand name for use in the future. As an alternative, they might still sell Golden Cup aborad, say in South Africa or somewhere.

One thing you can be sure of. If the bar is still made, it won't taste anything like the original. Just think of Toffee Crisp and the cheap chocolate that now covers it!

Caramello from Ireland is nice. The squares are bigger than our squares and its really nice. It's a bit more chewy than our Cadbury's caramel.

Dear Paulham,

Thank you for emailing Nestle for us concerning the excellent chocolate bar Golden Cup.

Unfortunately, they are too busy producing incredibly cheap-tasting chocolate and endless varieties of Milky Bar and Kit Kat to read your email properly.

I can only assume that they have no idea that Golden Cup is featured on their website. This is because they have allowed themselves to employ a webmaster who is really a spy for cadburys and he/she has planted the words Golden Cup on the site to confuse Nestle's potential customers and cause them distress. Soon the Webmaster will also plant the words Frys Five Centres on the site thus causing more confusion.

Yours sincerely
