Going to a party?
« on: December 08, 2006, 08:33:40 pm »

Ooh - it's party season

I was having a conversation today with the guys from work about getting ready to go out. Anyway - it led to a debate about whether to you eat much during the day. My work do is to a chinese buffet, and i know i'll just have a couple of bits of fruit during the day because i want to be able to drink lots when i go out. I'm not actually that bothered about the food - i just want to get drunk

Maybe it's a female thing - cos the guys thought i was weird to starve myself all day so i can 'allow' myself more at night - what do you guys do?

Well if I'm going somewhere or going to a party I usually eat less than usual - you may aswell save all your calories for when you stuff yourself, but of course alcohol is more important than food.

You should not drink on an empty stomach.

Deffinitely not. I've had some terrible hangovers due to not eating, so it's a good excuse for fish and chips before.

It's party time for me from now until Christmas. This is my (unusual for me) Christmas line up:

Tonight (Saturday) - 50th Wedding Anniversary Party in London

Tomorrow: 21st Birthday Party in London

Tuesday: Taxi Trade Press Ball in Preston - overnight stay in hotel with Press Ball Breakfast the following day.

Thursday: Facaulty Dinner at The Cuckoo in Peterborough

Friday:  College Staff Ball in the college hall.

Next Saturday: Christmas Buffet and drinks with close friends

Hope everyone else has an enjoable lead up to Christmas!

Old but spicey!

I would probably do something similar, not so much to save calories as to save room for the nice/free food!

Who needs karma when you know you're great already?

Fish and chips is a good thing to have before alcohol. I also like to line my stomach with a glass of milk.

But when you want to get drunk it's best not to line your stomach

I'll get rid of my hangover in the morning by going to the gym and pounding the treadmill. Plus lots of H2O!!!

You can still get drunk after lining your stomach. It's the sickness I'm preventing.

Best thing to do is to pace yourself and have a paracetamol as soon as you get home, plus plenty of water and dont go to sleep til all the alcohol is out of your system. Well, thats what you're meant to do anyway

I hate the memory loss part the most... and I hate it when people keep reminding you for months later of the embarrassing things you said/did when you were drunk.

Best thing I find for a hangover is.. drink a pint of water with a fizzy vit c tablet in it then drink another pint of plain water, have a snack. Go to bed and hope for the best!

No matter how drunk I get I never lose my memory and the room never spins.
