I agree to an extent. It's got to the point where I constantly groan at every advert on TV. Back in October all this Xmas nonsense started and now I'm fed up with it. Whenever I go shopping now the town is always packed and it's not pleasant.

I don't want to think about it until the 15th.

That might work for adults but I think the children would protest quite a bit.

The trouble is kids don't even know why we celebrate Christmas and all they are interested in is expensive gifts.

I think the modern kids idea of a Christmas present is the most expensive Ipod or the latest games console.

Then I am really lucky with my kids because they are not like that.

I am not saying they don't want those things, they are kids after all, but they understand that it isn't possible right now and they're really good.

I wish for a great many things, but when it comes down to the really important stuff, Yes I think I'm lucky.

It's good that your kids aren't like that Velvet - I think when kids get to the stage where they expect really expensive stuff every year, they're in danger of becoming spoilt brats when they get older.

Yes I agree with that kevvosa.

I also think that they can end up being bitterly dissappointed when they grow up and find out that inevitably real life isn't like that.

My kids get upset over things they can't have, but they handle it well and I'm proud of them for it.

I loved plasticine. It was squashy and squidgy and it smelled funny!

Imagine kids now getting plasticine, colouring books and having to spend all afternoon cutting out and playing the game on the back of the selection box. There would be a war.

Oh do you remember doing that too? Our dog always ate the dice out of all our games so we could never find one to play the games with once we were done.

OH Good Grief I'm OLD!!!!!

christmas aint about presents or even jesus these days - it's truly about an atmosphere where everyone's just that little bit nicer to each other. and for that reason, i love it. joy to the world! wjp66639057.1275578704
